"Spoils of War" Overview
A film detailing the struggle to discover the truth behind what was known as the Dirty War of the late 1970s and early 1980s in Argentina, where tens of thousands of students, leftists, dissidents, and their associates disappeared without a trace, most likely abducted, jailed or killed by the Argentine military dictatorship. Confused and afraid, the families of the missing gathered in secret, creating a secret code language to discuss their trauma while under surveillance. Filmmaker David Blaustein spent three years interviewing the group, called the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, who relate the brave actions taken when confronted with the refusal of the government to disclose the truth.
