Everyone pitched in as rationing, victory gardens, and scrap drives became the new way of life. The program also explores other aspects of life on the home front, including civilian defense, domestic propaganda, and bond drives. "Rosie the Riveter" heralded a new era for women, who left their homes, went to work, and joined the military. Hollywood joined the war effort by enlisting the services of top name performers featured at the famous The Hollywood Canteen. "Victory" became the catchword behind America’s war aims - and the word "sacrifice" suddenly had new meaning.
